    Grand Rapids Parking Services has many parking options for students attending classes at the downtown campus' of Cooley Law School, Douglas J. Aveda, Ferris State University, Grand Rapids Community College, Grand Valley State University, Kendall College of Design, Michigan State University, and Western Michigan University.

    We advise students to check with their schools for parking options as many provide stickers, cards, etc.

    The DASH bus system plays a major role in transporting students from parking areas toward their learning institutions.  The DASH routes are conveniently timed.

    Downtown Grand Rapids is a walkable City, bike and scooter parking is provided at many locations, and The Rapid offers convenient bus services.

    South of Fulton

    The surface lots south of Fulton (Areas 1 through 6A) are full of monthly parking customers  Parking Services does not maintain a waiting list and monthly cards are sold on a first come first served basis.  Check availability daily by visiting our web pages or contacting us between 7:30 am and 5 pm directly at 616-456-3290.

    Ellis Parking operates a surface parking lot south of Fulton.  For rates and hours of information, contact Ellis Parking directly.

    The Cherry Commerce Ramp has monthly parking for $116.00 and daily parking for $1.00 per half hour to a daily maximum of $7.00.  Cash or credit cards are accepted.  The entrance is off Cherry Street.  For those with evening classes - restrictions apply - , cards are available for $17.00 per month.

    The Weston Commerce Ramp has monthly parking for $123.00 and daily parking for $1.00 per half hour to a daily maximum of $9.00.  Cash or credit cards are accepted.  The entrance is off Weston.  For those with evening classes - restrictions apply -, cards are available for $16.00 per month.

    Parking Services has converted an unused lot at Market and 131 into a monthly parking lot.  Monthly card rate is $26.00.  There may be spaces available in a pay on entry mode for $2.00 a day.

    Most of the streets around the schools have parking meters.  These meters accept coins or you can use Parkmobile.us as well.

    The $5.00 coin unit (cash or credit card) in Area 5 is on until the maximum number of daily vehicles has been reached.  At that time the unit is turned off until space is again available.  There is no guarantee this lot will be open or have spaces available each day.

    The $5.00 coin unit in Area 3 is turned on at 10 am and is on until the maximum number of daily vehicles has been reached.  At that time the unit is turned off until space is again available. There is no guarantee this lot will be open or have spaces available each day.

    North of Fulton

    The surface lots in DASH west (Areas 7 through 9) do have limited monthly card availability.  These lots see frequent DASH West or DASH to the Hill buses.  Monthly rates.

    Area 8 has a coin unit (cash or credit card) with a $2.00 pay on entry charge.  There is no guarantee this lot will be open or have spaces available each day. 

    Two DASH buses also serve the Scribner lot.   This lot has monthly spaces and a $3.00 pay on entry (cash only) coin unit.

    Ellis Parking also operates a surface parking lot north of the Gerald R. Ford Museum.  Additional parking is also available throughout the downtown area.  For locations, availability, and pricing, contact Ellis Parking.

    Monthly and $3.00 per entry coin operations are available in our North Monroe and Ionia Mason surface lots.  Monthly rates.

    Monthly and hourly parking are also available to the Government Center, Pearl Ionia, Monroe Center, and Ottawa Fulton parking ramps. Monthly rates.

    For those with evening classes - restrictions apply - cards are available for $16.00 per month in the Pearl Ionia and Monroe Center Parking Ramps.

    Evening Parking - Special Rate Restrictions

    The Parking System has currently allocated 125 spaces in the Cherry Commerce Ramp, 100 in the Monroe Center Ramp, 250 in thePearl Ionia Ramp, and 100 in the Weston Commerce Ramp as VIP parking spaces.

    VIP parking customers enter the ramps after 4:30 pm and exit the ramps prior to 6 am, seven days per week.  Customers provide a completed parking agreement as well as credit card authorization.  Credit cards are charged on or around the first day of the month for parking.  No invoices or notification of payment is sent. 

    Monthly Parking Card Basics

    Monthly cards operate on an in and out cycle.  Each and every time you enter or exit the lot, you are required to scan the card, even if the gate raises.  If you do not scan your card, contact our office 616-456-3290 or 616-456-3751 to have your card reset.

    Monthly parking customers are billed around the 20th of each month for the next months parking.  Payment is expected on the first day of the month. 

    All parking cards have a card deposit of $10.

    Customers not paying will be locked out of their parking facility and their space will be resold.  Parking charges continue to accrue until the parking card is returned to our office, or our office is notified you have stopped parking and will not turn the card in, or the account is closed for non-payment.   Accounts closed for non-payment will be turned over to the Treasurer's Office for collection.   Accounts closed for non-payment will not be reopened until balances are paid.

    Value Added Services

    Customers parking in our lots and ramps can utilize our Security service.  Services we provide include assistance with flat tires, dead batteries, keys locked in cars.  Further information.

    Your monthly parking card allows access to your facility from 7 am until 6 pm.  Cards are active after these hours and you can park in your lot if space is available.

    Meter Parking

    Parking meters are enforced Monday through Friday 8 am until 5 pm unless they are maked or signed as enforced.  On September 1, 2012 meters located over and between the Grand River and Division and Michigan and Oakes will e enforced until 6 pm.  A majority of meters are free after 5 pm and Saturday.  All meters are free on Sunday and on City holidays.  Please make sure you are parked within 12 inches of the curb.

    When putting change into your meter or calling Parkmobile to activate parking, make sure that your car is parked appropriately at the meter.  

    At a single head meter the front bumper of your vehicle should be even with the meter post.  Where there are dual meters (two meters on one post) the front or rear bumper must be as even with the meter post as practicable. 

    Information on Neighborhood Parking

    If you park in a residential neighborhood, please obey parking rules.  Do not park within 20 feet of a marked cross walk, 3 feet of a driveway (In front of a public or private driveway or alley within three (3) feet of where the course of the curbline has been changed to start the driveway or alley approach), 15 feet of a fire hydrant, 15 feet of an intersection.  Please make sure you are parked within 12 inches of a curb.  Parking System Enforcement and Grand Rapids Police Department personnel vigorously patrol neighborhoods and respond to neighborhood complaints.
