Thank you for considering a career with the City of Grand Rapids. The Human Resources Department accepts applications for permanent positions only when a vacant position is posted. All candidates must submit an online employment application to be considered for an employment opportunity.
In general, applications must be submitted electronically by 11:59 pm on the application deadline date. Cover letters and resumes are accepted, but not in place of an employment application. The online application provides an opportunity to attach or copy and paste a resume into the application.
To submit an employment application, click any job title from the Current Job Openings list to view the job announcement. The link to the online application appears on each individual job announcement. The application is designed to be completed while you are online. It cannot be downloaded to your computer. Computer access is available in our office from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm located on the 8th Floor of City Hall which is part of the City/County Administration Building, 300 Monroe Avenue NW, Room 880, Grand Rapids, MI or at the local library.

Applicants are responsible for updating their employment application with any change of address, email address, and/or telephone number. Application status or updates can be made by clicking on the Applicant Login link in the navigation pane. All applications must be submitted electronically by the closing date posted for the position. Applications for closed positions will not be accepted.
